Milan Menswear Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013- day 01
Today Milan fashion week for the menswear collections of the next spring/summer started. Some of the big names that presented their collections today were Jil Sander, Dolce&Gabbana, Versace and Burberry Prorsum along with other houses that are presenting this fashion week. I'm gonna post some of the highlights and trends we have seen the first day, and that we are going to see in the next spring.
Costume National, presented a very clean collection with mixes of earth tones and geometrical patterns in some of the pieces, we saw predominance of white, black, creamy colors and shiny fabrics
Burberry Prorsum presented a very funny and colorful collection, we saw again shiny fabrics such as silks, shantungs, metalic textures, foulard prints and a wide spectrum of colors. Something that caught my attention was the sandals that were worn even with formal suits and sunglasses with the same hues of the sandals, we saw a lot of bomber jackets along with the classic Burberry Trench reinvented once again by Bailey
Dolce&Gabbana presented a collection inspired by the spirit of the Sicilians, they had actors walking on the runway mixed with real models wich gave that sense of real people wearing those clothes. The proportions were a little bit odd, the color palette included a lot of grey, stripes, foulard prints and all the shirts were partially unbuttoned, a very laid back feeling from the looks presented.
Ermenegildo Zegna presented a very modern collection, showcasing shining fabrics such as silk that they create especially for this show from the project they have called "Passion for Silk", the color palette was basically earth tones, maroon, electric blue and some graphical prints. A very 70s mood
Jil Sander returned to her own label since she left the brand many years ago, this collection was very clean, bold colours such as electric blue and yellow, we noticed the use of patchwork as Raf Simmons did when he was designing for Jil Sander, the use of a lot of shorts and sleeveless blazers (present on most of the other collections seen today), was predominant in most of the looks
Versace presented a very edgy collection inspired by gladiators, wrestling and I may say the early 90s, we saw again sleeveless blazers, tunics, lurex, floral prints and the predominance of white, gold and black. I liked this collection very much, especially the shoes.-
In conclusion we've seen: metallic/shiny fabrics, basic/bold colors, and prints. Tomorrow we are going to see Prada and Bottega Veneta to name a few.
