Milan Menswear Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013- day 02
This second day of Milan fashion week, we saw big names presenting their collections such as Prada, Roberto Cavalli, and Vivienne Westwood. This is what we saw...
Bottega Veneta presented a very relaxed collection that includes light weight blazers, loose shirts, and sneakers. The color palette was basically several shades of earth tones, light blues, and some printed pieces that were covered with a semi transparent net that wave a new interesting texture to the clothes.
Salvatore Ferragamo presented a collection inspired by the mood of L.A. and the vibe of that city, color block was predominant, there were suits with subtle geometrical prints and "hand-painted" textures on some suits; it's very interesting that there were no dress shoes just sneakers, taking into account that Ferragamo is well known for its shoes.
Prada presented a very sporty collection, based on the simplicity that she took inspiration from, she said she wanted to be "equal", that's why she presented women on the show, the color palette was very interesting and it seems that patchwork will be the next color block. She managed to present a very clean and well coordinated show that I think in the future this collection will create trends as she always does.
The Roberto Cavalli collection was inspired by butterflies, different textures such as prints, bold colors and metallic fabrics. This collection had a lot of interesting pieces that we might take inspiration from such as the (again) "hand-painted" texture of some blazers. Shoes had a round little point, and were made in metallic leathers; scarves were the main accessory of the collection.
This menswear collection of Vivienne Westwood was very wearable, there were some interesting mixes, patchwork (again), plaid, bold colours mixed with prints, even a Keith Haring-Inspired piece. This was not her best collection but it was interesting indeed.
We are seeing a patchwork, metallics and hand-painted textures in most of the collections, and electric blue and burgundy as the most repetitive colours of the season mixed with the basic white-black and grey. Today shows will be another waive of big names such as Gucci, Emporio Armani and Fendi, see you later!.
