TOP TEN: NYFW EDITION

First of all, I was going to make a top five, but it's almost impossible to pick just five shows of this city because they seemed to have worked hard this season, so here you have my 10 favorite fashion shows from the city that never sleeps (they are not in any specific order):

- Alexander Wang: Because he managed to create 90s from a different way, he interpreted his own version of the logomania from that era. He created his own version of grunge without being dark or punk. Even though there were leather pieces everything seemed to be really light, very sporty as the vision of the brand is.

- Del Pozo: Because his collection was full of references from Spain (remember is a Spain based brand) it was almost as if Balenciaga himself created this collection, it was very couture, very pure, almost ecclesiastical.

- Proenza Schouler: Because their collection was magnificent, the cuts were really clean, the presentation was really cinematic, you feel like you were transported back to 1990s something, and you were part of a very intellectual movie. Even Anna Wintour have already worn a skirt from the collection. They played with metallic pieces and also with a very restricted color palette.

- Narcizo Rodriguez: Because for the first time his collections are not about fancy party dresses, this is a very thoughtful collection, is very refreshing and shows off the youth of NY. The introduction to leather pieces and his amazing use of color demonstrated that this guy can deliver more than night gowns.

- Jason Wu: Because he decided to go away from his well known office wear, and he actually sent out a collection really inspired on something, his bias cut were really clean as they are supposed to be, this bias cut that John Galliano once set as the fashion of 1990s was really well executed by Wu, some of the evening wear even had a lace corset inside.

- Cushnie et Ochs: Because of their way of playing with cut outs, and also because is a very NY collection, all black in white, with pop of color given by those purple pieces and also a little bit of print, very minimal, very clean but yet amazing.

- Marc Jacobs: Because normally his collections (like this one) might be a little bit of a satirical joke, he managed to bring back the Matador jacket, and also his long dresses were really outstanding, again I don't think that everything will go to the stores as it was presented so, I will need to watch again when they hit the stores, but from what I saw this collection is impressive.

- Prabal Gurung: Because of his shapes, this designer is another who took away his evening wear and sent a run through of good every day wear his use of prints and bold colors is really amazing. He really surpised me a lot. Also his presentation was really good, it was like Barbies on their plastic boxes being presented in their best clothes.

- Rodarte: Because the Mulleavy sisters managed to create 90s in a different way, when everybody is making grunge as the comeback of the 90s, these ladies are bringing back the crazy clothing from LA in those years, remember those series or movies that were filmed there, showing girls going to pool parties or even to college in those crazy outfits?.

- Thom Browne: Because his mix of this Marie Antoinette going into a tea party with Queens Victoria and Elizabeth I at the best hotel in hell, is really well executed, some of the pieces were ready to be worn, and some others were either to be presented at the show or maybe they will be modified later, whichever the case is, this collection must have been presented in Paris, and I hope one day he will manage to go there and present each collection in the city of the lights.
